Advanced Podiatric Training

Lourdes sponsors a residency program for Podiatric medicine.Lourdes sponsors a residency program for podiatric medicine and podiatric surgery. Our program provides the necessary requirements for Board Qualification and Board Certification for American Board of Podiatric Medicine and American Board of Podiatric Surgery as approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education.

Approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, this limb reconstruction program provides comprehensive training in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery, podiatric medicine and wound care, and particular training focused on external fixation techniques. Externship positions are available and encouraged.

Residency Curriculum

The curriculum encompasses current podiatric office and hospital-based medicine practice, wound care, limb salvage, trauma, and elective surgery with an emphasis on reconstructive forefoot surgery and the added reconstructive rearfoot component.

Select residents will have the opportunity to attend a prestigious three-month rotation focusing on limb deformity correction at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD.In addition to Wound Care Center, peri-operative consults and private office experiences, residents are responsible for in-house patient management as well as staffing and managing the Primary Care Network Foot Clinic.

The rotation schedule provides residents with experience in a core of medicine rotations as well as general, vascular and orthopedic trauma surgery. Residents achieve completion of their surgical numbers at Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital, Binghamton, NY
