All of the childbirth education classes are held at Lourdes
Hospital. All of our childbirth education classes are led by highly
qualified, caring nurses.
Preparing For Birth
To prepare for the birth
of your baby we explore the stages of labor, labor options, stress
relaxation skills, induction of labor, epidurals, and cesarean
birth. Each session includes lecture/discussion, videos, and
practice time for stress relaxation skills (breathing & more).
A tour of the Women's and Children's Center is included as a part
of this class.
The sessions are designed for the mother-to-be and her labor
support person (we ask that only one person come with the
mother-to-be for class). Bring two (2) pillows and a blanket and
wear comfortable clothing.

Preparing for Birth in a Day
This one-day class will prepare you for the birth of your baby
by exploring the stages of labor, coping and relaxation skills, and
medical interventions such as induction of labor, epidurals and
cesarean birth. Time is spent on lecture/discussion, videos and
time for practicing coping and relaxation skills (breathing &
more). A tour of our Women's & Children's Center and PRIVATE
birthing suites is included as a part of this class.
This class is designed for the mother-to-be and her labor
support person (we ask that only one person come with the
mother-to-be for class.) Bring 2 pillows and wear comfortable
clothing.

Breastfeeding: Getting Off to a Good Start
To be breastfed is what your baby expects after birth - learn
why. This class will also cover the importance of getting off to a
good start, the benefits to mom, baby, and society as a whole, and
when and where to get help if needed. Bring a doll to class for
holding/positioning practice. Dads-to-be or other support person is
encouraged to attend.

Baby Care Basics
This interactive class is designed to review the basics of
newborn care. Topics include handling, bathing, feeding choices,
diapering, and more. Common concerns discussed include: comfort
measures, sun/cold exposure, sleeping positions, and more.

Big Brother/Big Sister
Designed for children between the ages of 3-10 to help prepare
them for the arrival of a new baby into the family. Class will
cover baby's development during pregnancy, why baby cries, feeding,
toy safety, and more. A tour of the Women's and Children's Center
is included as a part of this class. Parents will also learn tips
on handling possible jealousy with the older child and how to make
the older child feel as if they are not being replaced.
Fee: $10 per family
