The Lourdes Nursing Professional Practice Model is an
integration of our hearts; the Lourdes Mission, Vision, and Values;
our nursing philosophy; Benner's conceptual model of Novice to
Expert; Relationship-based Care; the Stetler Model of Research
Utilization; the Core Values of Ascension Health; and our Professional
Nurse Advancement and Recognition Program criteria. This
framework evolved over many years, beginning with our staff nurses
recognizing that professional nursing practice encompasses
leadership, exemplary clinical practice, education, and
research.
The core of our Nursing Professional Practice Model reflects our
reason for being: patients, families, and our community. The next
ring denotes our framework for nursing care delivery -
relationship-based care. The subsequent ring shows our core values
to which we are committed and which guide our behaviors. The outer
ring reflects the four key elements of Professional Nursing
Practice at Lourdes, which are recognized in the Professional Nurse
Advancement and Recognition Program. This ring also includes
the concepts that guide where we are going and what we need to do
to get there: Spirituality, High Reliability, Engagement, and
Diversity.
