With the addition of new and improved medical technology leading
to earlier cancer diagnoses and better treatments of most cancers,
more people diagnosed with cancer are living and surviving. At
Lourdes, we know that the end of treatment is not the end of the
cancer experience. And, that's why we've started a Survivorship
Program.
Lourdes Survivorship Program is designed to create a bridge for
continued care of post treatment cancer survivors back to the
community, family and primary care setting. The program provides
support for the physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and
financial issues that people recovering from cancer face.
The Survivorship Program goals were established following our
staff's attendance at the City of Hope's Survivorship Program. The
City of Hope is a National Cancer Institute-sponsored cancer
program. Lourdes was selected to participate through a competitive
application process.
Living Well Series
Lourdes now offers monthly seminars through our Living Well
Series. These seminars provide information and answer questions
survivors and their loved ones may have. Topics include stress
management, nutrition, exercise, and much more. Living Well
seminars are held the fourth Wednesday of the month at 5:30 PM
in the Lecture Hall at Lourdes Hospital, main floor.
For more information or to register to
attend the Living Well Series, call Julie Ashman at
