Lourdes Hospital is proud to be home to
the Southern New York American Cancer Society (ACS) Resource Room,
the first ACS Resource Room in upstate New York.
The ACS Resource Room offers a variety of information to newly
diagnosed cancer patients, their families, and support persons. All
available pamphlets, booklets, and brochures are free and include
information about various types of cancer.
Trained volunteers, who are also Lourdes Hospital volunteers,
staff the Resource Room. Volunteers can assist patients with
finding information about a particular type of cancer, assist with
wig and hat fittings, and offer referrals to the ACS for free
patient programs and services available in their community. Wigs
and hats are also available at the ACS Office at 13 Beech Street,
Johnson City.
Because the ACS Resource Room is staffed by volunteers, hours of
operation may vary. Typically, the ACS Resource Room is open for at
least three hours daily between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00
PM.
