Our Mission at Lourdes is patient care and our Call
to Action is to deliver Healthcare That Works, Healthcare That
Is Safe and Healthcare That Leaves No One Behind.
We have committed our talents and influence to building safe,
accessible, adaptable, and affordable healing environments for the
future. We want to be sure our healthcare works better; we want to
make it safer and more effective; and we want to be sure there is
access to care for all so that no one is left behind.
The need exists to stay ahead of the ever-changing healthcare
arena and to work to set standards that will endure into the
future. With growing patient volumes, the continuously evolving
shift from inpatient to outpatient care, and the drive to place
more emphasis on preventive care, there is a need to respond to the
emerging needs of our community.
Lourdes' solution to this challenge is to blend the most
advanced technology with professional, experienced staff and our
traditional emphasis on compassion. The expansion and modernization
project will create an environment in which we can better
accomplish this goal and meet the changes occurring in the delivery
of healthcare now and into the future in a more efficient,
patient-friendly way.
How will the money being raised during the capital campaign
actually be used?
The Lourdes Hospital
Foundation's capital campaign goal of $6 million will allow
Lourdes to move forward with a $70 million facility upgrade that
will help to transform healthcare delivery in our community. The
necessary infrastructure will be designed to keep pace with the
national trend of shifting from inpatient to outpatient services.
This campaign will allow Lourdes to expand and upgrade the
Emergency Department, Radiology Department, and Surgical
Department, as well as construct a new Ambulatory Care Center and a
new main entrance and lobby. Finally, some ambulatory treatment
services, including the Rehabilitation Department, will be
relocated for improved patient access and convenience.
Who will benefit from this project?
PATIENTS: Lourdes will provide
patients with easier access to many of our outpatient services.
And, Lourdes will help to improve patient flow in these outpatient
service areas, including the Emergency Department and Radiology,
resulting in less waiting time and improved patient privacy.
COMMUNITY: Lourdes has served the
community long and well. Our more than 80 years of caring have
earned Lourdes a place in the hearts of many. The Mission 2012:
Building Tomorrow's Healthcare Today campaign looks to the future
and allows Lourdes to continue to serve our Mission and our Call to
Action.
Why is it critical to support Lourdes?
Lourdes Hospital is a Catholic, mission-based, family healthcare
organization. Since the opening of the hospital in 1925, the
Daughters of Charity have remained true to their commitment which
is deeply rooted in the life and example of St. Vincent DePaul, the
apostle of charity, to reach out and address the healthcare needs
of the community in a caring, loving and compassionate manner.
Today, Lourdes continues to be a proactive force in reaching out to
people who would not otherwise have access to healthcare through
such programs as our Mission In Motion program, our mobile dental
van, and our primary care sites in Whitney Point and Hancock.
Lourdes Primary Care Network serves over 100,000 patients each
year providing preventive healthcare services that reduce costs by
treating illnesses early. Additionally, Lourdes provides critical
services through our Emergency Department, Radiology Department,
Surgical Department, and Rehabilitation Department that are
essential to the health and well-being of our community. In
summary, Lourdes' vision of healthcare for the future will be
realized by this transformational Mission 2012 project. It will
assure that the facilities and the medical providers will be in our
community for generations to come.
