As part of our commitment to the future of healthcare, Lourdes has established the St. Vincent DePaul Educational Scholarship Program.  This program supports talented individuals in the pursuit of their long-term educational goals in certain healthcare fields that are predicted to have long term labor shortages.  We will provide educational sponsorship for selected individuals in exchange for a long-term work commitment after graduation from the program.

Nurses

Eligible fields of study include:

  • Registered Nurses (BS)
  • Physical/Occupational Therapists
  • Pharmacists
  • Medical Technologists
  • Surgical Technicians

Lourdes will make approved payments for tuition directly to educational institutions to the maximum amounts listed below, less deductions such as funding and scholarships.

Note:  Any grants, including TAP and PELL, received by the learning institution on behalf of the student, which appear on the student account, will be subtracted from the tuition amount paid by Lourdes.  The amount of any other grant or scholarship funding provided to the student must be disclosed by the student and will be deducted from the funding that Lourdes provides.  

Eligibility Requirements

  • Physical TherapistCandidates must either be accepted for admission (pre-requisites are completed) or be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university program as a full-time or part-time student and be scheduled to complete course work within the timeframe outlined. 
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate a record of strong past academic achievement.  Demonstration of clinical and leadership potential is helpful.
  • Candidates must be students in good standing and must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or above on a 4.0 scale for the duration of participation in the program.  Applicants must provide complete transcripts for consideration for participation and continuation of the program.
  • Where qualifications are equal, preference will be given to:
    • Candidates who have demonstrated financial need
    • Current Lourdes associates (in good standing), and;
    • Family members of current or retired Lourdes associates.

Work / Repayment Commitment

In exchange for participation in this program, recipients agree to work for Lourdes for one year (defined as 2080 hours of work) for each year that the candidate participated in the program.

Candidates interested in being considered for participation in the Program must submit a completed application by March 30, 2008.  Lourdes will complete its review process and will communicate its decision by April 30, 2008.
