People
send roughly one-third of their lives asleep, so quality of sleep directly
affects quality of life. Studies show that one out of three Americans has a
sleep disorder that contributes to potentially life-threatening mistakes and
accidents on or off the job. The good news is that once detected, most sleep
disorders can be corrected.
If you have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or remaining awake, the Sleep Lab
can help.
The types of problems treated through this program include:
- Sleep Apnea
- Snoring
- Oxygenation Problems
- Insomnia
As
the technology, research and field of Sleep Medicine grows - so have we. We continue to provide
state of the art, cutting edge equipment through which we can collect information while the patient
sleeps quietly and comfortably and at the same time, allow the physician immediate access to information.
We continually update the education of our staff of certified respiratory therapists, Registered Polysomnographic
Technologists and Board eligible Polysomnographic Technicians.
Our lab has 8 beds that accommodate patients 7 nights a week.
These private rooms have a quiet and comfortable home like atmosphere for
patients to spend the night. Each room has amenities that make a patient’s
stay as pleasant as possible such as:
- Premium mattresses designed for different body types and styles of
sleep.
- Private bathrooms and showers.
- Recliners for patients who can’t sleep laying down.
- Flat panel televisions.
- Mission style wood furniture
Our rooms have
queen size beds, beds for smaller frames and children and special mattresses designed for support and
comfort. The private bathrooms all have a roomy
fully mirrored vanity area and an area for hair dryers, etc., for our patients who leave for work from the
facility. There is also an area for patient caregivers to spend the night (when necessary).
A light snack and/or coffee in the morning is available at the patient's request.
Working closely with Lourdes Health Support enables patients to quickly
acquire any item needed or prescribed by the physician. This provides patients with continuity
of care within the Lourdes system (for those who choose it). Even after patients have gone home
and had their prescriptions filled, the Sleep Disorders Lab helps patients fine tune any and all compliance
issues related to any therapy prescribed by the physician.
Lourdes Sleep Lab, the first accredited facility in the area, was Accredited by the
American Academy of Sleep Medicine in 1998.
