for children and their families.

- Urgent care
- Fillings
- Extractions
Services are provided by Dentists and Registered Dental Hygienists.
Mobile Dental Services
are offered to local schools and community sites. All services offered
at the Center for Oral Health are also available on the Mobile Dental
Clinic. Ask if the
Lourdes Mobile Dental Clinic will be visiting your child’s school this year.
All children at participating schools are eligible to receive FREE dental
education, a screening and a parent report to bring home.
The Center for Oral Health targets children who are uninsured, on Medicaid
or enrolled in New York's Child Health Plus program, a population that is
underserved for dental services in the Broome County area. Lourdes also
offers a Patient Financial
Assistance Program to help patients who meet specific guidelines and are
not eligible for any other available program.
Although tooth decay is largely preventable, it remains the most common chronic disease of children
aged 5 to 17 years. This preventable health problem begins early: 17% of children aged 2-4 years have
already had decay. By the age of 8, approximately 52% of children have experienced decay, and by the
age of 17, dental decay affects 78% of children. Pain and suffering due to untreated tooth decay can
lead to problems in eating, speaking, and attending to learning.
Lourdes oral health programs address the problem of dental decay through
prevention, education, early diagnosis and treatment.
The Center for Oral Health is conveniently located on Front Street next door to the Broome County Health
Department. Our facility, which is on the BC Transit bus line, is a street-level building which provides
easy access for our patients in wheelchairs or with disabilities.
