A very special project of Lourdes Hospice and Broome
Oncology
Camp Hope for Kids is a day camp for children and teens who have
experienced the loss of an immediate family member such as: a parent,
guardian, grandparent, or sibling. Children ages 6-14 are welcome to
participate in this specialized day camp.
The camp is run by professional social workers, teachers and nurses who
have experience working with children and grief and loss. They will be
able to grieve openly and learn how to deal with their emotions and realize
that there are other children that are experiencing similar loss.
The activities offered in the camp provide opportunities for learning,
healthy grieving and hopeful living. The camp will encourage fun and
play, while engaging the children in therapeutic activities such
as memory books. Campers will also participate in
Healing Circles, a support group that gives opportunities for
each child and teen to share their stories, get to know each
other and learn ways of coping. Our caring staff offers
guidance and support.
Camp Hope is hosted by Camp Sertoma, Johnson Road, Kirkwood, NY.
Activities Include:
- Art
- Music
- Swimming
- Hiking
- and More...
