A Message from Administration

David Patak
President/CEO

As I look back over my first year as President/CEO of Lourdes, I think about all that Lourdes has accomplished, and I think about the team of people that is Lourdes. Our team is over 2,200 members strong, and each one of us brings a unique gift that helps Lourdes be successful in meeting the needs of our community. The commitment I see in our associates each and every day is what creates the Experience for our patients and is what sets Lourdes apart from the others.

Some of the successes that stand out in my mind over the past year include:

  • Bringing daVinci Robotic Assisted Surgery to our community
  • Completing Phase I of our Mission 2012 project, including the completion of a flood wall, as well as the addition of two new OR suites, a new Open MRI, and Phase I of the new ED
  • Continuing our commitment to patient safety by implementing a Safety Coach program and a daily leadership safety huddle
  • Opening the Hope Dispensary
  • Implementing Electronic Medical Records through Cerner
  • Partnering with the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Stroke Association (ASA) to bring our community Stroke Sense, a stroke awareness community education program
  • Winning several awards, including the Commission on Cancer's Outstanding Achievement Award and the AHA/ASA Get With the Guidelines Stroke Silver Plus Performance Achievement Award
  • Continued successful physician recruitment

None of this would have been possible without the tireless work and effort of every associate at Lourdes.

As we look to the future, we know we will continue to deal with current economic conditions, healthcare reform, and new care delivery models. And, we will do all of this in typical Lourdes fashion - we will manage the changes without compromising our values.

When I first stepped into this role, I said that I believed Lourdes was poised for greatness with all the work we've been doing to make Lourdes a high reliability organization focused on patient safety and quality. This is even more evident to me today than it was a year ago.

I want to thank you for all of your support and hard work, and I am looking forward to continuing to work with you to serve the vital Mission that we serve in our community.
