Volunteers Plant the Seeds of Kindness
Celebrating Volunteers: April 27 – May 3
Day-to-day operations at Lourdes Hospital would be very different if not for
the efforts of our volunteers. I’m sure you’ve all seen these angels who work
throughout our organization each and every day, donating their time and talents
to help us serve the community. Each year in April, we take a moment to
thank them and show our appreciation for all that they do throughout the year.
Our volunteers provide a number of essential services, including:
delivering medications to the units, assisting patients being discharged from
Ambulatory Surgery and GI, providing excellent customer service in the Auxiliary
Gift Shop and Café, stamping, folding and stuffing envelopes for all of the
Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction surveys and greeting guests upon their arrival
through our doors.
Here are some facts you may not have known about Lourdes’ volunteers:
- 64 junior volunteers donated 3,240 hours during 2007
- Our youngest volunteers are 14 years old
- 314 adult volunteers donated 24,380 hours during 2007
- Our 2 ‘most senior’ volunteers are 91 years old
- One of our volunteers has been volunteering for 38 years
- The combined ‘value’ of our junior and adult volunteers is priceless,
but if we had to put a dollar value on their time, that value is $484,719
We are always looking for more volunteers to help provide the Lourdes
Experience. If you know of someone who is interested in giving of their
time and talents, please ask them to call Lourdes Volunteer Services at
798-5490.
And, when you see a volunteer in the hallway or your department, offer them a
wish of thanks and appreciation.
“Those who can, do.
Those who can do more, volunteer.”
